Shortly after arriving in the city of Arles, in the south of France, Van Gogh became intrigued by the flowering fruit trees that populated the orchards there in the spring of 1888. He began to paint many flowering fruit trees like peach, almond, apricot, and peach. Orchards in Blossom is dated April 1888 and is thought to depict plum trees in full bloom. This beautiful painting is currently on display at the Scottish National Museum, Edinburgh
